San José de Ocoa photography contest extends deadline and changes award date

The organizing committee for the 5th San José de Ocoa Photography Contest 2026 has announced an extension for photo submissions and a rescheduling of the awards ceremony. The deadline to submit images has been extended to October 30.

The awards ceremony, originally scheduled for October 24, will now take place on Saturday, November 14. Organizers cited the coincidence of several other cultural events in the province as the reason for the change.

This year’s theme is “Biodiversity of San José de Ocoa,” focusing on the province’s natural landscapes, flora, fauna, rivers, and mountains. The contest is open to Dominican residents aged 15 and older. Currently, approximately 100 images have been received. Prizes include RD$50,000 for first place, RD$25,000 for second, and RD$15,000 for third, along with two special mentions of RD$5,000 each.
