San Juan de la Maguana receives agricultural and cultural initiatives
The San Juan province in the Dominican Republic is seeing a series of institutional developments focused on agriculture, technology, and culture. The Ministry of Agriculture has announced a RD$30 million subsidy to facilitate the purchase of bean seeds for more than 1,500 small-scale producers in the San Juan Valley. This agreement with the Banco Agrícola will release 10,000 quintals of pledged seeds, allowing farmers to acquire quality seeds at a reduced cost to support the planting of over 120,000 tasks.
Simultaneously, the Special Fund for Agricultural Development (FEDA) and the Plan for Economic Development of San Juan have launched the 15th Ruta de El Valle. This initiative focuses on agro-industrial innovation, including workshops on using agricultural drones for precision irrigation and fertilization. The program also emphasizes social empowerment through initiatives like the Madres del Campo program and promotes agrotourism to integrate the agricultural landscape into the national tourism ecosystem.
In the cultural sector, the Dominican Institute of Telecommunications (Indotel) conducted the Soberanía 4.0 project in the municipality. The event promoted national identity and patriotic values through musical performances of bachata, merengue, and perico ripiao, featuring artists such as Kinito Méndez and Krisspy.
