San Juan del Río collects electronic waste and 250kg of PET

The municipality of San Juan del Río concluded its ‘Reciclatón’ environmental campaign, which ran from August 5 to August 8, 2026. Organized by the Directorate of Ecology and the Environment, the initiative successfully collected approximately 250 kilograms of PET and more than four containers of obsolete electronic devices, including televisions, computers, and household appliances.

Gildardo Ríos Terrazas, the Director of Ecology and the Environment, noted that the campaign aimed to foster a culture of responsibility regarding waste management and prevent toxic electronic components from contaminating soil or water sources. The municipal government, led by Mayor Roberto Cabrera Valencia, emphasized that such actions are vital for environmental preservation.

While the main event has ended, the Directorate of Ecology and the Environment continues to accept obsolete electronic waste at its offices in the Centro Cívico. Residents can drop off items Monday through Friday, from 08:00 to 16:00.
