San Juan del Río councilor coordinates migrant repatriations and aid

Councilor Oscar Sandoval of San Juan del Río reported that the municipal Migration Assistance Commission is handling the repatriation of the remains of a 50‑year‑old resident who died in Atlanta and is providing financial support for funeral services. The office also assisted families of two recent deaths in Los Angeles, one of which resulted from a sheriff‑inflicted gunshot wound, and oversaw the safe return of eight San Juan del Río natives detained during an ICE raid. Sandoval is monitoring the case of a 17‑year‑old minor intercepted at the northern border and placed under DIF protection in Tapachula while coordinating legal and logistical aid for his family.

Meanwhile, the Jesuit Refugee Service (JRS) in Ciudad Juárez offers comprehensive support to migrants, refugees and displaced persons, including individual and group psychological counseling, school kits, uniforms, educational orientation, community integration activities, humanitarian assistance and referrals to other organizations.
