San Juan del Río municipal service & infrastructure drive
Entities: Agencia de Movilidad del Estado de Querétaro (AMEQ) · Asturiano · Fondo de Aportaciones para la Infraestructura Social Municipal (FAISMUN) · Qrobus · San Juan del Río municipal government
Overview
By late July 2026 the municipal government continued its multi‑track programme. On 20 July it confirmed the near‑190 million‑peso budget for school facilities, road paving, a 23 million‑peso water tank, a new well, a treatment plant and the regularisation of 800 property titles, while the water utility JAPAM added 22 new service vehicles and a 90 million‑peso investment for further water tanks, wells, reforestation and low‑cost water delivery.
On 28 July the council approved a second‑phase public‑works tranche of 22.6 million pesos covering five construction projects and two land‑transfer authorisations. At the same session Mayor Roberto Cabrera Valencia introduced a tax‑discount scheme that reduces inheritance and donation transfer taxes by up to 80 % and waives related fines.
The state mobility agency launched a prepaid transit‑card system for the municipal bus network effective 1 August, allowing a 10‑peso fare on about 300 buses with electronic validators and a mobile‑app for balance checks and recharges. Municipal social‑development reports noted that these investments, together with ongoing food subsidies, health services and community‑infrastructure upgrades, have benefited thousands of families.
The overall effort, which already encompassed 194 projects with 1.5 billion pesos invested, now also includes the new transit‑card rollout and tax incentives, reinforcing the administration’s focus on infrastructure, water services, public‑space improvements and social welfare.
