San Juan Province opens new “Aguas de Vida” trail and hosts community environmental day

On World Environment Day, the municipality of San Juan organized a free, open‑air community event at the city’s Environmental Center. Residents, school groups and NGOs took part in practical stations on recycling, home composting, aromatic‑plant cultivation and a veterinary drive that vaccinated dogs and cats. The municipal Environment Direction showcased its work on urban tree care, green‑space maintenance, pest control and water‑use optimisation, while local neighbourhood unions highlighted the city’s source‑separation waste program.

Later the provincial government inaugurated the interpretive “Aguas de Vida” trail in the Parque de la Biodiversidad, El Pinar. Governor Marcelo Orrego thanked participants, saying, “celebramos la inauguración de obras ambientales, que representan hechos concretos y no solo palabras.” Vice‑governor Fabián Martín called environmental care an “obligación y política de estado.” The trail, built with recycled‑plastic wood benches and signage, allows visitors to observe more than 3,300 aquatic species relocated from the nearby lake and serves as an educational and tourism attraction that promotes conservation, circular‑economy principles and community engagement.
