San Juan to fund school sports facilities via mining trusts

The Government of San Juan has announced plans to fund the construction of three covered multi-sport courts in local schools using resources from mining trusts. The project, involving the ministries of Mining, Infrastructure, Water and Energy, and Education, will invest over $3.84 billion pesos.

The facilities will be located at the Antonio Quaranta School in Jáchal, and the Ricardo Güiraldes and Dalmacio Vélez Sarsfield schools in Iglesia. Funding will be sourced from the Veladero and Gualcamayo mining trusts. Each facility will cover approximately 1,026 square meters, providing year-round space for sports, education, and community activities.

Additionally, the provincial legislature has ratified a cooperation agreement between the Ministry of Family and Human Development and the Mining Services Chamber of San Juan. This agreement aims to establish a framework for mutual assistance to strengthen the social economy sector and support local entrepreneurs.
