Japanese retailers launch seasonal food and beverage campaigns

Japanese food and beverage retailers are launching various seasonal products and promotional campaigns.

McDonald's Japan is introducing the ‘Hokkaido Potato Pepper Tsukimi’ burger on September 24 as part of its 35th anniversary of the Tsukimi series. Actor Shingo Katori will appear in new television commercials for the product. The release follows the current lineup, which includes the standard Tsukimi Burger and the ‘Aburi Sukiyaki-style Tsukimi’.

FamilyMart has begun accepting reservations for its 2026 Christmas cake lineup, featuring collaborations with Pierre Marcolini, Pierre Hermé, and Theo chocolate brands.

In the coffee sector, Komeda's Coffee has launched a seasonal collaboration with Kirin's ‘Gogo no Kocha’ (Afternoon Tea) brand, featuring a milk tea frappe with milk pudding. The product has seen high demand, with some locations reporting early sell-outs.

Other retail updates include Lawson starting reservations for its ‘MOTTAINAI Osechi’—an upcycled New Year's meal made from surplus ingredients—and various seasonal snack and merchandise releases from brands like Happy Turn's and EXPO 2025 official merchandise.
