San Luis expands ‘Hora Más’ program to 100 primary schools

The province of San Luis has expanded its ‘Hora Más’ program, adding 84 primary schools to the initiative. This brings the total number of participating institutions to 100, covering approximately one-third of the province's primary schools.

The program increases the weekly school day from 20 to 25 hours. The additional time is specifically designed to strengthen student learning in core areas, including language, reading, writing, and mathematics. Implementation varies by school based on pedagogical proposals and teacher availability.

The expansion follows an agreement signed in August between the provincial government and the national Secretariat of Education. Under the terms of the agreement, the national government will finance up to 80% of the salary difference for participating teachers and one member of the management team, while the province ensures initial payment regularity. Teachers effectively fulfilling the extended hours will receive a 25% salary increase starting in September.
