San Luis primary school hour expansion
Overview
The province of San Luis is expanding its ‘Hora+’ (or ‘Hora Más’) program to include 100 primary schools, which accounts for approximately one-third of the province’s state-managed primary institutions. The initiative increases weekly school hours from 20 to 25, adding one hour of daily instruction focused on reading, writing, mathematics, and language.
Following an agreement between Governor Claudio Poggi and the national Ministry of Human Capital, the national government will finance up to 80% of the salary difference for participating teachers and one management team member. To ensure implementation, the province will guarantee the regularity of initial payments. As a result of the expansion, teachers fulfilling the extended hours are set to receive a 25% salary increase starting in September.
