San Luis Potosí announces holiday breaks and new infrastructure proposals
San Luis Potosí officials have announced several administrative and legislative measures. Governor Ricardo Gallardo Cardona declared a holiday bridge from October 29 to November 2 to allow families to participate in Xantolo and Day of the Dead celebrations, particularly in the Huasteca region. This suspension of activities applies to both public and private educational institutions.
In legislative news, Deputy Luis Fernando Gámez Macías proposed a constitutional reform requiring municipalities to allocate at least 15% of their budget to water, drainage, and sewage infrastructure. Additionally, the State Congress has urged the State Civil Protection Coordination to update risk atlases to better prepare for floods and landslides.
On October 15, Federal Secretary of Public Education Mario Delgado Carrillo will lead a forum in the state regarding the impact of digital devices on youth. This follows San Luis Potosí becoming the first state to reform its Education Law to regulate cellphone use in schools.
