San Luis Potosí Governor Boosts Security Coordination and Police Pay

Governor Ricardo Gallardo Cardona of San Luis Potosí convened senior officials from the state civil guard, the National Guard and the Mexican Army (SEDENA) to tighten joint operations across the state's four regions. The meeting focused on maintaining continuous surveillance, intelligence sharing and rapid response to preserve public order and peace.

Gallardo highlighted a constitutional reform that raises the minimum salary for the 59 municipal police forces to 14,000 pesos, aiming to professionalize the corps and enhance accountability. He also reminded municipal leaders that up to 20% of the funds allocated to the 2026 Fortamun program must be directed toward security measures such as patrols, equipment, training and operational strengthening.

The governor asserted that the coordinated effort keeps San Luis Potosí among the four Mexican states with the best security indicators, and pledged continued joint patrols on highways, in urban areas and rural communities to protect families throughout the region.
