San Luis Potosí launches permanent security council for industrial zone

Mayor Enrique Galindo Ceballos of San Luis Potosí inaugurated the Industrial Zone Security Council, a standing coordination body that brings together municipal, state and federal officials, the army, emergency services and private security firms. The council will oversee a permanent operational command, appoint a special commissioner and maintain 24‑hour police patrols in the corridor that serves about 120,000 workers, users and visitors each day.

The initiative follows a recent rise in cargo‑theft incidents; authorities reported a 17‑18% decline after earlier coordination measures. The council is empowered with a legal personality, dedicated budget and a structured plan‑action‑monitoring framework to improve safety, confidence and competitiveness for the region’s automotive, manufacturing, petro‑chemical and logistics businesses.
