San Luis Potosí Mayor addresses political succession and water utility crisis

San Luis Potosí Mayor Enrique Galindo Ceballos has raised concerns regarding the potential misuse of public resources by Governor Ricardo Gallardo Cardona ahead of the 2027 elections. Galindo cautioned against using state structures and official government actions to favor the Green Party and influence the gubernatorial succession.

Separately, Galindo addressed a financial crisis at Interapas, the municipal water utility. He reported that the state owes the organization nearly 300 million pesos, contributing to a broader debt issue exceeding 400 million pesos that has persisted for four years. This financial strain has hindered the maintenance and rehabilitation of over 170 water wells.

Despite the fiscal challenges, Interapas officials clarified that water rates will remain unchanged for 2027, denying rumors of a proposed 8% increase.
