San Luis Potosí moves to embed gender perspective in public security institutions

Deputy Brisseire Sánchez López introduced a constitutional reform amendment to article 88, paragraph 2 of the San Luis Potosí State Constitution. The proposal would expressly require public security agencies to operate under the principle of gender perspective, alongside legality, efficiency, professionalism and respect for human rights. The change aims to align the state constitution with federal gender‑equality reforms, improve protection of women's rights, and provide clearer legal certainty. The initiative has been referred to the Commission on Constitutional Points for analysis and a report.

The amendment reflects broader efforts in Mexico to integrate gender considerations into public policy and security frameworks.
