San Luis Potosí records 119 pedestrian and cyclist accidents

Between January 2025 and June 2026, the municipal Secretariat of Security and Citizen Protection in San Luis Potosí recorded 119 road accidents involving pedestrians and cyclists.

Official records for 2025 include 75 incidents: 40 pedestrian accidents and 35 involving cyclists. For the first half of 2026, an additional 44 cases were documented, consisting of 26 pedestrian and 18 cyclist incidents. The pedestrian total includes 66 accidents, resulting in 67 injuries and two deaths.

Víctor Hernández, a mobility specialist and member of the Coalición Movilidad Sostenible SLP and Pedalendo SLP, warned that these figures are likely underreported. He noted that official statistics often exclude accidents where the responsible driver flees, incidents caused by poor street conditions, or cases where victims do not file formal reports.
