Pedestrian and cyclist accidents in San Luis Potosí
Overview
In San Luis Potosí, official data from the municipal Secretariat of Security and Citizen Protection shows a pattern of road accidents involving pedestrians and cyclists. Between January 2025 and June 2026, 119 such incidents were recorded, including 66 pedestrian accidents that resulted in 67 injuries and two deaths.
Mobility specialist Víctor Hernández has suggested these figures may be underreported, noting that official statistics frequently omit accidents involving fleeing drivers, poor street conditions, or cases where formal reports are not filed.
Adding to these concerns, a fatal incident occurred on Boulevard Valle de los Fantasmas near the La UPA neighborhood, where a 23-year-old woman was killed after being struck by a personnel transport vehicle while attempting to cross the road. Authorities have detained the driver and the vehicle for investigation.
