San Luis Potosí officials report economic growth and fiscal stability

During recent legislative hearings in San Luis Potosí, state officials presented reports on the administration's progress. The Secretary General of Government, J. Guadalupe Torres Sánchez, highlighted improvements in social peace, security, and infrastructure, noting that 339,000 residents have moved out of poverty.

Finance Secretary Ariana García Vidal reported a significant increase in state revenue, with total income projected to reach 70.4 billion pesos by the end of 2026, up from 49.3 billion in 2021. She noted that tax collection has nearly doubled. However, she acknowledged ongoing financial pressures regarding pension obligations, which could require up to 4 billion pesos, and a 206 million peso funding gap for the Autonomous University of San Luis Potosí (UASLP) that the state aims to cover through budget adjustments.

Additionally, the Secretary of Economic Development, Mario García Valdez, stated that the state has become a strategic economic hub, attracting 2.55 billion dollars in investment over the last year, which generated approximately 13,000 jobs.
