San Luis Potosí reports growth in formal employment and reduction in homicides

San Luis Potosí has seen significant developments in labor and security. According to Governor Ricardo Gallardo Cardona and data from the Ministry of Labor and Social Welfare (STPS), the state recorded 1,695 new formal jobs over the last year, reaching a total of 486,427 registered workers by the end of September 2026. This represents an annual growth of 0.35 percent.

Sectoral growth was noted in seven of nine economic areas during September, led by social and communal services, manufacturing, and construction. On an annual basis, the commerce sector saw the highest increase with 2,058 new positions.

In terms of public safety, the state has achieved a 78.6 percent reduction in the daily average of intentional homicides between January and September 2026 compared to the same period in 2025. This trend was reported by the Executive Secretariat of the National Public Security System (SESNSP). The administration attributed these results to a comprehensive security policy involving technological modernization, intelligence work, and increased patrols.
