Meeting in Rimini draws 900,000 attendees and Pope Leo XIV

The 47th edition of the Meeting in Rimini concluded with a record 900,000 attendees. A historic highlight of the event was the visit of Pope Leo XIV, who addressed the assembly on themes of responsibility, peace, and the ethical management of technology. In his speech, the Pope urged for the protection of human dignity against the potential destructive nature of pervasive technological development.

During the event, San Marino’s Secretary of State for Foreign Affairs, Luca Beccari, discussed the Republic’s digital future. He noted that San Marino aims to integrate into the European Union’s digital regulatory framework through an upcoming Association Agreement, which is expected to be signed between late September and mid-October. This partnership is intended to prevent technological isolation and allow San Marino to participate in a shared economic and regulatory space.

Discussions at the Meeting also touched upon the challenges of artificial intelligence, emphasizing the need for technology to serve human freedom and dignity rather than overshadowing it.
