Rallylegend 2026 concludes in San Marino amid racing wins and local controversy
The 24th edition of Rallylegend 2026 in San Marino concluded with a mix of sporting achievement and local controversy. In the WRC category, Luca Pedersoli won driving a Hyundai i20 N Rally1, followed by Nikolay Gryazin. The event also featured the debut of the Memorial Bettega, where Dani Sordo secured a victory in the WRX category. Other winners included Swiss driver ‘Il Valli’ in the Classic category and the San Marinese duo Nicola Bonfè and Massimo Bizzocchi in the Historic category.
Despite the racing success, the event faced significant criticism regarding safety and public order. Local political representatives, including Giovanni Zonzini of the RETE Movement, raised concerns over incidents such as a vehicle striking young people in Fiorina, fires in natural areas like Canepa, and reports of property damage and theft. Public debate in San Marino has also centered on the economic impact of the rally, weighing the benefits to local businesses and tax revenue against the disruptions and security risks experienced by residents.
