RallyLegend 2026 concludes amid racing wins and controversy

The 24th edition of Rallylegend in San Marino concluded with a combination of sporting achievements and ongoing local controversy. In the WRC category, Luca Pedersoli won driving a Hyundai i20 N Rally1, followed by Nikolay Gryazin. The event also saw the debut of the Memorial Bettega, where Dani Sordo won the WRX category, while ‘Il Valli’ took the Classic category and Nicola Bonfè and Massimo Bizzocchi won the Historic category.

However, the event faced significant criticism regarding safety and public order. Local political representatives, such as Giovanni Zonzini of the RETE Movement, raised concerns over various incidents, including a vehicle striking young people in Fiorina, fires in natural areas like Canepa, and reports of theft and property damage.

These developments follow earlier tensions regarding Decree-Law no. 147, which restricted alcohol consumption in the event area, and previous reports of traffic-related incidents, including a hit-and-run in Fiorentino and unauthorized acrobatic maneuvers. Public debate in San Marino continues to weigh the economic benefits and tax revenue generated by the rally against the security risks and disruptions experienced by residents.
