Mexico regional health and social service initiatives expand

Various regional initiatives in Mexico are providing expanded healthcare and social services to local communities. In Puebla, the state government and SEDIF have launched medical jornadas, such as the “Por Amor a las Familias” program in Agua Santa, which provides free services including general medicine, dentistry, and psychological consultations. Additionally, the “Feria de Paz” in San Martín Texmelucan, supported by the Navy (SEMAR) and Defense (DEFENSA), has delivered over 16,000 services ranging from medical care to social proximity actions.

In other regions, the Universidad Autónoma del Estado de México (UAEMéx) reported that 129 interns provided nearly 20,000 health services over the past year. In Texcoco, the Movimiento Antorchista organized vaccination drives in the Leyes de Reforma neighborhood. Meanwhile, in Apatzingán, a coordinated effort between federal, state, and municipal governments brought medical consultations and civil registry services directly to the Lázaro Cárdenas neighborhood.

Other community-focused programs include cultural and social development efforts, such as the “Makáwari” program in Chihuahua to preserve indigenous languages, and youth-oriented initiatives like the “Embajadora de la Juventud” contest and video competitions in Hermosillo.
