Latin American health and mobile service initiatives
Overview
Throughout mid-to-late 2026, health and social service initiatives across Latin America focused on expanding primary care, specialized medical campaigns, and mobile outreach. In Argentina, Formosa province emphasized capacity building through health worker training in prenatal and reproductive care, while also hosting regional assemblies to discuss drug prevention strategies. Mobile services continued to reach remote areas, including indigenous communities in Formosa and mobile hospitals in Barrancas del Salí. Other municipal efforts included extended vaccination hours in Olavarría and mobile veterinary services for pet sterilization. In Mar del Plata, Córdoba, and Moreno, authorities deployed mobile units for vaccinations, oral cancer detection, and pediatric care.
By August 2026, new mobile initiatives expanded these efforts. In Tucumán, the ‘La Salud Más Cerca’ initiative began providing maternal-child care and chronic disease management. Buenos Aires launched the ‘Más servicios en tu barrio’ program, offering vaccinations, ID processing, and social assistance. In Córdoba, the ‘Ver para Ser Libres’ program deployed mobile units to provide ophthalmological exams and free glasses to children and adolescents in rural and peri-urban areas.
Mexico expanded its reach through the Salud Regia program in Monterrey and various municipal campaigns. In Veracruz, federal deputy Zenyazen Escobar led a free dental health campaign across six municipalities. In Hermosillo, mobile clinics provided diabetes detection and vision exams. In Puebla, the state government and SEDIF launched medical jornadas, such as the ‘Por Amor a las Familias’ program, while the ‘Feria de Paz’ in San Martín Texmelucan delivered over 16,000 services. Additional efforts included vaccination drives in Texcoco and coordinated medical and civil registry services in Apatzingán. Chihuahua and Puebla also continued pet sterilization and rabies drives. In Peru, EsSalud utilized mobile hospitals for specialist consultations in Chachapoyas and strengthened intensive care capacity in the Amazon.
