San Miniato council debates secret vote on 1.4 million PNRR funding loss

The municipal council of San Miniato held a closed discussion, led by the Democratic Party group leader Franca Torre, to vote on keeping the debate about a commission report that attributes the loss of €1.4 million in PNRR funds to the failed construction of a new kindergarten in the San Miniato Basso area. The opposition accused the majority of trying to hide the findings, describing the secrecy as a “failure of the commission.” The commission, chaired by Veronica Bagni, blamed the temporary association of firms that won the 2023 contract for discrepancies in the tender, project variants, and prolonged delays.

Council members argued that the public should be informed, while the majority invoked privacy protections to prevent potential accusations against individuals and entities involved in the project.
