Legislative updates across Peru, Mexico, and Argentina

Various legislative and political developments are occurring across Latin America. In Peru, the Chamber of Deputies has ratified that parliamentary work, including plenary and commission sessions, will be conducted in person. Exceptions for remote participation are permitted for representatives working outside Lima, medical reasons, or maternity and paternity leave.

In Mexico, several regional updates include the PAN party deciding to select its candidate for the Chihuahua municipal presidency via survey. In San Quintín, Baja California, the State Congress approved a reform exempting agricultural workers and indigenous peoples from municipal fees when regularizing property. Additionally, the Permanent Commission has urged the Ministry of Finance to facilitate the regularization of used foreign vehicles and called on states to legislate against abandoned vehicles in public spaces.

In Argentina, the Chamber of Deputies of San Luis has enacted the Comprehensive Regime for the Promotion of Economic Development and Employment (RIPEE). This law provides tax benefits, employment subsidies, and financing mechanisms to attract investment across multiple sectors, including agribusiness and technology.
