San Quintín Livestock Expo concludes with bovine sire auction

The inaugural San Quintín 2026 Livestock Expo has concluded in Baja California, Mexico, focusing on improving the genetic quality of regional cattle herds. During the event, the Secretariat of Agriculture and Rural Development (SADER BC) provided subsidies covering up to 50 percent of the cost for 28 bovine sires acquired by local producers.

Thirty-eight ranchers participated in the auction, offering more than 40 high-quality specimens from the Brangus Rojo, Brangus Negro, Charolais, Beefmaster, and Hereford breeds. In addition to the genetic improvements, the expo included the distribution of livestock trailers, implements, and machinery to support the sector.

Deputy Dunnia Monserrat Murillo López contributed 100,000 pesos to the genetic improvement initiatives. Mónica Vargas Núñez, Secretary of Agriculture and Rural Development, stated that facilitating access to superior genetics aims to increase the productivity, quality, and competitiveness of cattle herds in the region.
