San Roque municipality adopts fire‑prevention decree
The town council of San Roque (Spain) approved a new decree to tighten fire‑prevention measures during the high‑risk summer period. The rules apply to private landowners, community owners, urbanizations, industrial sites and any activity located near forested areas. Property owners must clear spontaneous vegetation, scrub and herbaceous growth, while developments in the urban‑forest interface must submit an approved Autoprotection Plan.
The decree also mandates a minimum 15‑metre safety zone around settlements and installations, kept free of debris, vegetation and litter. From 1 June to 15 October, the use of fire is prohibited, including burning of natural vegetation, agricultural or forest waste, campfires, and any open flame for cooking. The regulation aims to reduce human‑caused forest fires in a municipality identified as highly vulnerable.
