San Roque to receive 55.2 million euros for infrastructure and flood prevention

The Spanish government has allocated 55.23 million euros to San Roque for 78 projects aimed at repairing damage from early 2026 storms, preventing future flooding, and improving public infrastructure. Mayor Juan Carlos Ruiz Boix described this as the largest extraordinary economic injection in the municipality's history.

Over 30 million euros are earmarked for sanitation, flood prevention, and water-related infrastructure, including 15 million euros for the improvement and protection of the Guadarranque River. Other funds will support public buildings, sports facilities, urban spaces, and coastal works. The program also includes investments in a new wastewater pumping station and various local parks.

In addition to these federal funds, the San Roque City Council has allocated over 814,000 euros for the maintenance of ten public primary schools. While the municipality is handling immediate repairs, such as water supply issues at CEIP Gabriel Arenas, the Mayor has called on the Junta de Andalucía to fulfill pending investments in school infrastructure, including elevators, new classrooms, and gyms.
