Infrastructure and flood prevention in San Roque
Overview
The Spanish government has allocated 55.23 million euros to San Roque to fund 78 projects focused on repairing damage from early 2026 storms, improving public infrastructure, and preventing future flooding. Mayor Juan Carlos Ruiz Boix characterized the allocation as the “largest extraordinary economic injection in the municipality's history.”
More than 30 million euros are dedicated to sanitation and water-related infrastructure, including 15 million euros for the protection of the Guadarranque River. Additional funding will support coastal works, urban spaces, sports facilities, and public buildings. The municipality is also managing local repairs and has allocated over 814,000 euros for the maintenance of ten primary schools, while calling on the Junta de Andalucía to address pending school infrastructure needs.
