Andalusia Niebla Forest Fire Triggers Emergency Evacuations

A forest fire broke out near the HU‑3106 road in the municipality of Niebla (Huelva) on the afternoon of 6 August 2026. The Junta de Andalucía elevated the incident to phase 1 of the Infoca emergency plan, ordered the preventive evacuation of the villages of Raboconejo and Caballón and closed the road between La Florida and Niebla. Around 60 ground firefighters, two autobombas, several bulldozers and a fleet of helicopters and aircraft were deployed to contain the blaze, which had already affected roughly 380 hectares.

Other Spanish wildfires were reported at the same time. In San Roque (Cádiz) a fire forced the evacuation of 19 families and was later declared controlled after aerial and ground crews intervened. In Castilla‑León, the fires at Murias de Ponjos and San Cipriano del Condado together burned about 3 900 hectares, prompting the deployment of more than 90 resources and a level‑2 danger rating. Smaller incidents in Lleida, Toledo, Ávila and other provinces were also mentioned, but the Niebla blaze remained the main focus of emergency operations in southwestern Spain.
