San Salvador tree collapse traps seven people in vehicles

A large tree collapsed onto four vehicles in San Salvador during heavy rainfall and strong winds on Saturday night. The incident occurred at the end of 29 Calle Oriente, directly in front of the ISSS Atlacatl medical unit.

Seven people were trapped inside the vehicles and required rescue by Comandos de Salvamento and municipal Protección Civil. Rescuers used chainsaws to clear the debris and reopen the roadway. While no victims sustained serious physical injuries, several required prehospital care for severe nervous crises and were stabilized at the scene.

The Ministry of Environment and Natural Resources (MARN) reported significant rainfall accumulations in various parts of San Salvador over the last 24 hours. Persistent rain and electrical activity continue to affect several departments, including Santa Ana, Chalatenango, and Morazán.
