San Sebastián Church in Villacastín undergoes restoration

The Church of San Sebastián in Villacastín, a monumental structure featuring Gothic, Herrerian, and Renaissance styles, remains a significant cultural landmark. Built upon the ruins of a Romanesque church, the site has been designated as a Bien de Interés Cultural (BIC) since 1944.

Recent restoration efforts were conducted in 2022 by the Consejería de Cultura of the Junta de Castilla y León, involving an investment of approximately fifty thousand euros. This funding was directed toward the recovery of two altarpieces: those of the Virgin of the Rosary and Santa Ana. The church's history is also tied to the Mexia de Tovar noble family, who funded various religious elements, including the choir screen and several altarpieces.
