San Sebastián Film Festival showcases contemporary and Basque cinema

The 74th edition of the San Sebastián International Film Festival features diverse programming across several specialized sections. The Zabaltegi-Tabakalera section, organized in collaboration with the Tabakalera International Centre for Contemporary Culture, presents 22 titles including 13 feature films, seven shorts, one medium-length film, and an audiovisual performance. This section highlights contemporary cinema from various geographies and includes works from established filmmakers such as Lee Chang-dong, Radu Jude, and Tsai Ming-liang.

The Zinemira section, dedicated specifically to Basque cinema, showcases 31 titles with Basque production, including 26 feature films, two series, and various shorts and medium-length projects. Ten of the thirteen feature films in this section are world premieres. These productions are eligible for the 20,000 euro Irizar Prize for Basque Cinema. Notable entries include ‘Inurri itsuak’ by Igor Legarreta, which opens the section, and a film about chef Karlos Arguiñano, which will close it.
