San Siro redevelopment project estimated at 2.3 billion euros

A major redevelopment project for the San Siro area in Milan is underway, involving a massive transformation of the historic Giuseppe Meazza site. The project, driven by Inter and Milan, is estimated to cost approximately 2.302 billion euros, with a total operation value estimated at 2.567 billion euros.

The plan involves demolishing most of the current stadium to make way for a new 71,500-seat arena designed by Foster + Partners and Manica Architecture. The new stadium will feature two rings to bring spectators closer to the pitch and include over 13,000 premium seats. Only about 25% of the current Meazza footprint will be preserved, serving a new urban function.

Beyond the stadium, the development will create a new tertiary district comprising nine main buildings ranging from 5 to 17 stories. This district will be dedicated to commercial and office use, including 98,000 square meters of office space, hotels, restaurants, and a shared museum for both clubs. The project also includes significant urban infrastructure, such as the Patroclo Tunnel, and aims to incorporate 67,000 square meters of green space.
