San Siro stadium celebrates centenary and musical legacy

The San Siro stadium in Milan is approaching its centenary, having been inaugurated on September 19, 1926. Originally built to hold 35,000 spectators, the venue has evolved into a major landmark capable of hosting over 75,000 people.

Beyond its role as a football venue shared by Inter and AC Milan, the stadium has a significant history as a premier music arena. A new book, ‘San Siro è rock’ by journalist Massimiliano Mingoia, chronicles the 214 concerts held at the site since Bob Marley’s first performance in 1965. The publication highlights legendary acts including Bruce Springsteen, Michael Jackson, U2, and Coldplay, documenting the stadium's cultural impact on Milan.

Recent tours of the facility now offer visitors access to the museum, player locker rooms, and a new Skywalk located 55 meters above the ground, providing a unique perspective on the iconic structure.
