San Siro: Inter and Milan consider giving stadium seats to fans

Inter Milan and AC Milan are considering a proposal to allow season-ticket holders to purchase or receive free San Siro stadium seats as a memento before the historic Giuseppe Meazza stadium is demolished.

According to environmental reports, the initiative serves both symbolic and ecological purposes. By salvaging approximately 80% of the 75,817 seats—roughly 60,654 units—the clubs aim to prevent approximately 273 tonnes of plastic from entering the waste stream, supporting circular economy principles.

The seat distribution would occur during controlled, pre-booked sessions before structural demolition begins. The demolition itself is described as a highly complex, four-phase operation estimated to cost 127 million euros. The process will include a 'strip-out' phase to remove electrical, plumbing, and HVAC systems, followed by the removal of the heavy steel roof, and finally the demolition of the stands and towers. The project is designed to ensure the new stadium is operational while the old structure is dismantled over an estimated 18-month period.
