San Vicente del Raspeig and Vélez‑Málaga boost municipal cleaning for festivals and summer crowds
The municipality of San Vicente del Raspeig (Spain) has activated a special cleaning operation for the Hogueras y Barracas festivals. The plan adds more than 20 operators, advanced street‑sweeping and washing machines, and around 95 mobile containers placed at high‑traffic sites. A double‑shift waste‑collection schedule will run throughout the festivities, and a public campaign urges residents to keep the city clean.
Vélez‑Málaga has launched a parallel summer‑season cleaning plan to cope with the influx of tourists. Running until 15 September, the program expands door‑to‑door waste collection for hospitality venues, intensifies street‑sweeping, pressure washing and manual cleaning, and introduces an electric three‑wheel cleaning tricycle (BKL Cube) supplied by Althenia to service the promenade without noisy diesel vehicles. Officials stress that the measures improve hygiene, reduce emissions and support sustainable urban maintenance.
