Sanctuary of Fátima to host international pilgrimage in October
The Sanctuary of Fátima is preparing to host the International Anniversary Pilgrimage on October 12 and 13. The event, which is expected to draw thousands of pilgrims from various countries, will be presided over by the Archbishop of Braga, José Cordeiro.
The celebrations commemorate the sixth and final apparition of Our Lady in Cova da Iria on October 13, 1917. This event marks the conclusion of the annual cycle of major international anniversary pilgrimages held between May and October.
The scheduled program begins on October 12 with a Eucharistic Procession, followed by the Rosary at the Chapel of the Apparitions, the Candlelight Procession, and a Procession of Silence. An overnight prayer vigil will include Eucharistic adoration and the veneration of Saints Francisco and Jacinta Marto. The festivities will culminate on the morning of October 13 with an International Mass and a Farewell Procession.
