SanDisk launches third-generation portable SSD lineup in Japan
SanDisk has launched its third-generation (V3) lineup of portable SSDs in Japan, featuring three distinct models designed for different user needs: the Extreme PRO, the Extreme, and the standard Portable SSD.
The high-end Extreme PRO Portable SSD utilizes USB4 technology to achieve maximum read speeds of up to 4,000MB/s. It is available in 2TB and 4TB capacities and includes IP65 dust and water resistance, drop protection up to 3 meters, and 256-bit AES hardware encryption.
The Extreme Portable SSD offers speeds up to 2,000MB/s via USB 3.2 Gen 2x2, with capacities ranging from 500GB to 4TB. It also features IP65 protection and 3-meter drop resistance. The standard Portable SSD is aimed at everyday users, providing up to 1,000MB/s speeds via USB 3.2 Gen2, with capacities between 500GB and 2TB and 2-meter drop protection.
While the new models offer significant performance upgrades over the previous V2 series, pricing has seen a notable increase due to rising SSD costs. For example, the 1TB Extreme model is priced around 50,000 yen, which is significantly higher than previous generations.
