Sandoz to invest USD 300 million in Slovenian biosimilar facility

Sandoz has announced plans to invest approximately USD 300 million in a new biosimilar drug substance facility in Ljubljana, Slovenia. The project utilizes disposable fed-batch technology to expand the company’s in-house manufacturing and supply network within Europe.

Scheduled to become operational by 2029, the facility is expected to add 8,000 litres of biologic drug substance capacity through four reactors. This expansion is part of the company’s Bio100 goal to increase its share of the biosimilar market and improve patient access to affordable medicines.
