Sandoz biosimilar business expansion
Overview
Sandoz is expanding its biosimilar business through strategic partnerships and infrastructure investment. In August 2026, the company entered a $322 million collaboration with Shanghai Henlius Biotech to develop and commercialize up to ten biosimilar products outside of China, focusing initially on treatments for colorectal cancer, hypercholesterolemia, and lupus.
Following this, in September 2026, Sandoz announced a $300 million investment to establish a new biosimilar drug substance facility in Ljubljana, Slovenia. The facility, intended to be operational by 2029, aims to increase the company’s European manufacturing capacity and support its ‘Bio100’ goal of expanding its market share in affordable medicines.
