Sandro Alex Gains Federation União Progressista Backing in Paraná
The Federation União Progressista – a coalition of União Brasil and the Partido Progressista (PP) – formally endorsed Sandro Alex of the Social Democratic Party (PSD) as its candidate for the governorship of Paraná and Alexandre Curi of Republicanos for the Senate. The endorsement, announced on 22 July, solidifies the support of the state’s ruling coalition led by Governor Ratinho Junior and isolates rival Rafael Greca of the MDB.
The alliance expands Sandro Alex’s campaign infrastructure, municipal reach and access to regional leaders, while ending expectations of a renewed partnership with former judge and senator Sergio Moro, who had sought to bring the PP into his own electoral project. The move is presented as a continuation of the economic growth and public‑service reforms pursued by the current administration.
Both articles describe the political maneuver as a boost to the “continuity” agenda of Ratinho Junior’s government and a step toward positioning Paraná as a major economic power within Brazil.
