Paraná gubernatorial race: Moro leads in new polls
The 2026 gubernatorial race in Paraná is intensifying as candidates engage in campaign activities and new polling data is released. According to a survey by Paraná Pesquisas, Senator Sergio Moro (PL) leads the race with 45% of the intended votes, followed by Requião Filho (PDT) at 24% and Sandro Alex (PSD) at 17.5%. Requião Filho holds the highest rejection rate at 36.6%.
Candidates are presenting diverse platforms. Sandro Alex has proposed creating specialized endometriosis centers via the SUS to improve diagnosis and treatment, expanding electronic monitoring for aggressors of women with protective orders, and continuing coastal revitalization projects in Matinhos, Pontal do Paraná, and Guaratuba. He also advocated for the privatization of Celepar, arguing it would prevent technological depreciation.
Alexandre Curi, a Senate candidate, proposed the creation of a ‘Fundo Sul’ (South Fund) to provide regional financing for Paraná, Santa Catarina, and Rio Grande do Sul, similar to existing constitutional funds in other Brazilian regions. Meanwhile, national political figures are expected to influence the state race, with Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva scheduled to campaign alongside Requião Filho in Curitiba, and Flávio Bolsonaro planning a visit to Ponta Grossa.
