Sandro Mazzola: Final farewell in Milan for Inter legend FAST-MOVING

Hundreds of fans, former players, and football executives gathered at the Basilica of Sant’Ambrogio in Milan to pay their final respects to Sandro Mazzola, the legendary Inter Milan and Italian national team figure, who passed away at age 83.

Inter Milan President Giuseppe Marotta emphasized the importance of preserving Mazzola’s legacy and values for future generations. The ceremony was attended by numerous footballing figures, including representatives from Milan, Juventus, and the FIGC. Notable attendees included former players Giuseppe Bergomi, Ivan Córdoba, and Esteban Cambiasso, as well as Milan President Paolo Scaroni.

Mazzola, the son of Grande Torino legend Valentino Mazzola, enjoyed a storied career primarily with Inter, winning four Scudetti, two European Cups, and two Intercontinental Cups during the era of the ‘Grande Inter’ under Helenio Herrera. He also won the 1968 European Championship with Italy.
