Sands China and NBA launch community charity week in Macau

Sands China and NBA Cares have launched the ‘NBA Cares x Sands Care Basketball Charity Week 2026’ in Macau. The initiative aims to extend the influence of the NBA China Games into the local community through various social welfare activities.

During the launch, players and staff from the Dallas Mavericks and Houston Rockets participated in basketball training camps for local students. NBA legends, including Yao Ming and Shawn Marion, also attended to engage with participants. NBA Commissioner Adam Silver emphasized the importance of using basketball to teach teamwork, respect, and discipline to young people.

As part of the charity week, Sands China partnered with Macau Caritas to support ‘Joyful Kitchen,’ a social enterprise providing vocational training and employment for persons with disabilities and special educational needs. NBA legends Stephon Marbury and Cuttino Mobley joined in distributing lunches to approximately 1,500 elderly and needy residents in Macau, marking a ‘Mental Health Day’ event to promote community well-being.
