NBA and Sands China charity week in Macau

Overview

Sands China and NBA Cares launched the ‘NBA Cares x Sands Care Basketball Charity Week 2026’ in Macau to extend the influence of the NBA China Games through social welfare and community activities.

The initiative included basketball training camps for local students featuring players from the Dallas Mavericks and Houston Rockets, alongside NBA legends such as Yao Ming and Shawn Marion. Community outreach efforts included a partnership with Macau Caritas to support the ‘Joyful Kitchen’ social enterprise and the distribution of lunches to approximately 1,500 elderly and needy residents.

The five-day event concluded with a community basketball carnival at the NBA House in the Venetian Macao. High-profile attendees included Chris Bosh and Sir David Beckham, who participated in activities with local families and Special Olympics Macau participants. The program aimed to promote youth development, healthy living, and Macau’s economic diversification through ‘tourism + sports’ synergy.
