Sanitary risks at Peruvian university and drug seizure in Ecuadorian prison

In Peru, the Contraloría General de la República has warned of sanitary risks at the Universidad Nacional San Luis Gonzaga de Ica (UNICA) dining hall, which serves over 500 low-income students. An inspection revealed expired products, including soy sauce and chocolate, as well as pests found in quinoa. The audit also identified failures in food storage, such as inoperative air conditioning and temperature monitoring equipment, and improper refrigeration temperatures that could compromise food safety and nutritional value.

In Ecuador, police conducted an operation titled ‘Cero Impunidad’ at the Riobamba Social Rehabilitation Center. During the intervention, authorities seized approximately 51.60 grams of marijuana, estimated to be around 103 doses. The substance was found abandoned within the facility. Investigations are ongoing to determine the origin of the drugs and identify potential responsible parties.
