Romania faces multiple fires and environmental incidents

Multiple regions in Romania and neighboring areas are facing environmental and safety challenges due to fires and pollution. In Argeș, three separate vegetation fires burned nearly 7,500 square meters of land. In Satu Mare, fires affected a house in Carei, beehives in Vama, and haystacks in Nisipeni, occurring during an orange-level heatwave.

In Ilfov, smoke from illegal waste burning in Sintești has been reported to drift toward Bucharest. Meanwhile, a sorting station in Leț, Covasna, suffered approximately one million euros in damages after a fire destroyed its main hall and machinery, though officials believe it was a spontaneous combustion incident.

In Timișoara, residents reported heavy smoke, which authorities attributed to large-scale vegetation fires in the Dubovac region of Serbia. In Moldova, the organization A. P. Moldcontrol successfully removed eight tons of abandoned tires near Budești and Boșcana to prevent soil and water pollution.

Separately, a 54-year-old sanitation worker in Dolj, Romania, died from electrocution after a crane on his vehicle made contact with high-voltage wires while lifting a bin.
