Satish Salian serves ₹500 crore defamation notice to Aaditya Thackeray

Satish Salian, father of the late Disha Salian, has served a ₹500 crore defamation notice to Shiv Sena (UBT) leader Aaditya Thackeray. The notice was delivered outside Thackeray’s Matoshree residence in Mumbai after Salian and his legal team were reportedly denied entry.

The legal action follows social media posts made by Thackeray on September 16, 2026, which Salian alleges were false, malicious, and defamatory regarding the ongoing investigation into his daughter’s death. The notice demands an unconditional public apology to be published in major newspapers and news channels, alongside ₹500 crore in compensation.

This development occurs as the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) begins a fresh probe into the 2020 death of Disha Salian, following a Bombay High Court order. While Thackeray has denied any personal connection to Salian and characterized the allegations as “evidence-free” attempts at character assassination, Salian’s lawyer, Nilesh Ojha, has also requested police protection from the CBI, alleging threats to their legal practice.
